Charlotte

Randy Hugh Carder, 63, passed in his sleep on January 4th, 2021 with his wife, Jeni McLemore Carder, at his bedside.

Randy was diagnosed with advanced stage brain cancer on December 14th, 2020 and spent the remaining weeks of his life surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Jeni; his three daughters Kayla, Taylor, and Josi; his son-in-law, David (husband of Taylor); his two grandchildren, Emry (daughter of Kayla) and Carder (son of Taylor and David); his sister, Diane Carder; and his father and mother-in-law, Dan and Nancy McLemore.

Randy was born in Lumberton, NC on November 22nd, 1957 to Bobbie Jean Carder. He grew up as a bright and talented boy, helping his family on the farm and becoming a recognized saxophonist during high school. He evolved as a dependable and motivated man and moved to Charlotte, NC in 1977 to attend UNC Charlotte. A love for building quickly emerged and he went on to have a 40+ year career in residential construction. While many builders can build a beautiful house, Randy had a special way of creating a home. His clients and vendors became like family and he always treated them accordingly.

During his life, he was a servant of Christ and a devoted member and elder of Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church. He is remembered as a gracious man with joy in his eyes, a friend to animals, an incredible family man, and a role model for all who had the privilege of knowing him. He led by way of example in his commitment to excellence, partnered with his humble nature. Randy left this world with wisdom and peace, and his family will continue to live in the path he created.

A private memorial for the family will be held at a later date.  In remembrance of Randy’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care- Charlotte Region.
