Betty Wilson

October 16, 1932 — April 29, 2020

Charlotte

Betty Ann Wilson, 87, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully at Presbyterian Hospital on April 29 th of
Covid-19. She had previously been a resident of Carrington Place Nursing Home in Matthews, NC.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Kenny and Lou Lou Bell Wilson and her sister Barbara
Wilson. She is survived by her only grandson, Alex Carter, USMC of 29 Palms, CA.

Betty was a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous for the 30+ years of her sobriety. She sponsored
numerous women and men throughout her years by teaching them the path to recovery and she made
herself available to anyone in need of her help 24 hours a day. She did that by sharing her experiences,
strength and hope about the disease. Betty was considered by many to be one of the heartbeats of AA
and a true gift to the program but she never accepted the accolades. She gave all credit to God and to
those who came before her and had taught her in the same way.

Betty had a 40-year career as a star of the insurance Industry but her greatest loves were the fellowship
of AA, her grandson Alex, her many loving and dear friends and her Yorkies; Killer and Taz. Betty also
had a deep and devoted love to all Carolina Athletic Games! Betty always wore Carolina Blue on game
days and was a true supporter, win or lose!

There will be a memorial service to celebrate the life of Betty later, on a date to be determined by the
lifting of the restrictions on public gatherings due to the Coronavirus. An additional notice as to the date
and time will be updated on this site at that time.
