Virginia C. Meek, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the age of 91 just shy of her 92nd birthday.
She is survived by her 4 children: Robert B. Meek of Gastonia, NC; Clifford C. Meek of Hendersonville, NC; Marjorie C. Meek of Surfside Beach, SC; Charlotte B. Miles of Southlake, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce B. Meek in 2015.
Born in New York City on August 28, 1928 as an only child to Charles and Susan Matson. She was a classically trained musician that played violin with the New York symphony at Carnegie Hall throughout her music career. She married Bruce B. Meek in 1952 and they started their family while living in Yonkers, NY. Pursuing the great American dream, they moved to Charlotte, NC in 1968 going into the ice cream truck business. They purchased their house in the Starmount area of Charlotte and lived there for 52 years.
Virginia loved children and was an owner or director at several daycare facilities within the city of Charlotte for many years. Always a hard worker and love of children & teaching, she worked into her 80’s as a substitute teacher within the Mecklenburg school system. She never knew the word, retire!
She had an entrepreneurial spirit always striving to provide for her family in any way possible.
A woman of faith, she loved her family and loved the Lord.
A service will be scheduled at a later time when she will then be reunited with her husband Bruce at the Veterans cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
