Terry Lindsay Putman Sr

Terry Putman, of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, November 3, 2025, from an unknown natural medical condition.

Terry was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He attended East Mecklenburg High School and later graduated from Western Carolina University. Following his education, Terry began a distinguished career with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, where he was first assigned to Gaston County. He later joined the Training Academy staff, where he mentored and trained countless recruits throughout his tenure.

After his time with the Highway Patrol, Terry continued his public service with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, where he proudly retired under Sheriff Donnie Harrison.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Terry was deeply committed to his faith and remained an active member of his church, always willing to serve wherever he was needed. He was also a dedicated leader in the Boy Scouts of America alongside his son, Lindsay, and cherished the time spent supporting their activities.

Terry is survived by his two children, three beloved grandchildren, and his greatest joy in life—his mother, Shirley Jackson Putman of Charlotte, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Jerome Putman and his brother, Deputy Tim Putman of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Crowder Baptist Church, located at 2534 Crowder Road, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
