Sherry Raines

May 26, 1957 — August 3, 2022

Sherry Lynn Raines of Charlotte NC, age 65, died August 3 2022 peacefully at home with her family after a long and hard fought battle with Leukemia. Born May 26, 1957 in Bridgeton NJ, she was predeceased by her parents Wanda and Doyle Raines and her brother Kenny Raines.  She is survived by her spouse of 33 years Susan Morse, brother Richie Raines,  nieces Sarah and Sharlene Raines and their children Brinkley and Ruthie, loving aunt Cheryl and uncle James Raines, Julie Cook and a loving host of cousins . She was a longtime caregiver to Wanda and mentor Betty Eudy.

She loved her precious pup Gidget. She enjoyed golf, softball and bowling as well as karaoke.  A favorite pastime was watching the Philadelphia Eagles or Phillies.  She also loved spending time  rangering on Larkhaven Golf Course.

A lifelong friend of hers , Becky shared this sentiment recently: "Earlier this month I lost a dear friend Sherry to cancer. Sherry was one of a kind. She never met a stranger and could light up a room just walking in. She was quick to laugh, a good listener, and loved her friends and family deep and truly. Sherry fought some really tough battles over the years health-wise. I miss her fiercely. I am so glad she's no longer in pain, and that she is with the Lord. But man, I sure miss that smile. She embodied the priceless gift of selfless love,  loyalty, generosity of spirit."

Special thanks goes to Novant Hospice.  Donations can be made to your local Battered Womens’ Shelter in Sherry’s memory.
