Jerry Willis Henderson

Born April 5, 1930, passed away June 8, 2016
Dear Jerry,
We have had 15 1/2 years of talking and traveling and fun. You have taught me how to enjoy Chinese food, how to operate a computer, how to be more assertive, how to treasure the Native Americans, how to be Super patriotic, and how to enjoy life. You brought me into a BIG interesting family of 7 children, 16 grand children, 27 great grand children, and 6 great-great grand children, plus 2 sisters, a special daughter-in-law, and a host of great neices and nephews. Your total family line measures 56. You really took to heart "be fruitful and multiply".
Your life has been so interesting. Changing your birth certificate from 16 to 17 so you could join the Army, then with an 8th grade education becoming an electrician and working up to lead engineer of a nuclear plant. You worked from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
And W1JER you really enjoyed ham radio as you lived across the South. Finally when you settled with me in Charlotte in 2001, you became a valuable member of the Charlotte Amateur Radio Club. The club is losing a dedicated president. Thanks for encouraging me to get a license and having a great circle of friends with your "ham" buddies.
We have had many traveling adventures across the USA in your BIG truck. Our best was driving from Charlotte to Alaska in 2004 covering thousands of miles in 37 days. Folks can't believe we drove the Alcan Highway.
You have been the greatest husband any woman could ask for. The men in my life until you came had caused me pain, so when you mentioned marriage after 3 months, I said "no way", but you entered my heart and 1 1/2 years later we drove to the Ponderosa Ranch in Lake Tahoe and got married. Life has been wonderful since.
I release you to Heaven, my dear one, go in peace and save me a seat.
All my Love, Marge Cole Fowler Henderson, P.S. I promise to keep JOY in my life to honor you.
